Turkey has been one of the fastest growing countries in terms of population and economy in recent years. This growth leads to an increase in energy usage. Turkey is a country that imports most of its energy sources from other countries. Oil and natural gas have the largest share. The greatest portion of these energy sources are from Russia, Azerbaijan, Iraq, and Iran. The geopolitical location and energy costs in the region require more intensive use of renewable energy resources in Turkey. Hydraulic, solar, geothermal, and wind energy are among the most heavily used sources due to the geographical location. Although the initial cost of installation is high, the incentives given by the government have increased the investment in these energy sources in recent years. In this study, investments made in renewable energy sources and capacity distributions have been discussed in recent years for Turkey.
