The sufficiency economy is rooted in Thailand because the government included this principle as a guideline for country's economic and social development. The philosophy extends to all levels, promoting individualism and sufficiency as the new way forward in the global economy. These principles would be more effective if economic principles reach a wider audience down to the elementary school level. We see the same Thai principles extending to G77 countries like Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia and Timor-Leste. At the same time, there is evidence of sustainable development interest extending as far away as Fiji, Sri Lanka, Chad, Benin, Somalia, Togo, Tonga, Senegal, and Ecuador.
