English-medium instruction (EMI) is increasingly being used in Turkish universities. Students who prefer to study in one of those universities usually have to take a year-long English preparatory class and pass the end-of-year test before they begin their undergraduate courses. To be able to make the preparatory year program more effective and to ensure that it adequately prepares students for Englishmedium education, it is crucial to explore the perceptions of the students about the program. The present study mainly aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the English preparatory program at Çukurova University School of Foreign Languages (YADYO) through the perspectives of students. To this end, a questionnaire was given to the freshman students studying in English-medium departments at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, and those who had taken a year-long English preparatory class at YADYO were asked to respond. The quantitative data in the questionnaires were analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), and the qualitative data were analyzed by using content analysis technique.
