<title>ABSTRACT</title>
<p>Minaret is one of the most important architectural components, which has a special role in the culture
and the social traditions. Minaret is the place of light and fire, and in terminology it is a building next to
the mosque for calling to prayer and because of turning the fire on it, it has been called minaret or the
place of light. It has been investigated in the architecture and urbanism of Iran for a long time.
Concerning the completion process of decorative elements of building, minaret has been taken an
important part of Islamic architecture. In the distant past, minarets were applied to guide passengers at
night and in a day and in deserts. In this work we try to address the application of minarets and its
formation and decorative elements. This study is conducted used in the form of descriptive and
historical research.</p>
