The purpose of this presentation will be to provide a practical reference for faculty in higher education as they strive to enter the ranks of the professoriate and meet the teaching and learning needs of the post-secondary students in the 21st century. With varied aspects of the professoriate continuing to develop, this presentation will also focus on success as a first year faculty member in higher education, leadership potential and opportunities in the professoriate, creating connections and community in higher education, and becoming fully armed with necessary skills for technological teaching strategies, such as virtual and hybrid models. The professoriate continues to evolve and higher education needs to be responsive in preparing faculty to address the multifaceted and diverse contemporary and future challenges. Thus, the role of higher education faculty is varied and ever changing.
