ABSTRACT

The article describes a survey on business trends on the local tourism market, carried out under the Małopolska Economic Observatory project. The Małopolska Region is ranked among Poland’s most attractive regions in terms of tourism, hence the need to monitor this segment of the economy. The surveys have been carried out quarterly since mid-2011 among businesses in the following sectors: hotel, catering and tourism-related industries. It is carried out using the business condition survey method, based on gathering entrepreneurs’ opinions about the present economic situation. The results are shown against the background of national trends published by the Polish Central Statistical Office (GUS). The article deals with the current economic situation of the tourist industry and business forecasts collected under the project.
