<title>ABSTRACT</title>
<p>The paper presents the results of the first stage of research which examined how the job of a logistician is perceived among students and young professionals. The study took the form of a questionnaire which was conducted at one of Polish institutions of higher education and was a pilot study. It will be followed by a series of similar studies to be conducted at other higher education institutions. In view of the fact that the study of logistics is increasingly popular among students at universities, it seems necessary to develop among them not only the required knowledge and skills but also a coherent and realistic vision of the profession. The study originated from some conclusions made on the basis of teaching practice observations of common sense nature. It was assumed that in their opinion on the profession young people tend to exaggerate difficulties in doing the job and access to it. The study of students&#8217; vision of the logistic profession gives the possibility to shape that vision using methods available in the contemporary system of education.</p>
