ABSTRACT

Current trends in EFL/ESP methodology in Ukraine emphasize the need for the approach combining integrative and whole language principles that are to be applied in the classroom conscientiously on a regular basis to help bridge the gap between receptive and productive language. Recent research data in the field outlined prospective trends in the innovative teaching methodology and practices, essential to ensure that practical needs of language learners are met. Systematic shaping of students’ linguistic skills via content-based EFL/ESP teaching enhances development of certain language comprehension areas, such as perceptive, cognitive, pragmatic, informative, social, cultural, and interactive in order to foster students’ competence and successful performance in different communicative situations.
