ABSTRACT

For university students, time is a limited resource, because in trying to reconcile the academic tasks with extracurricular, eventually they feel that don’t have enough time to do them. They try to find ways to make better use of time and adopt management measures to relieve their preoccupation.

In the academic context, the well-being has been valued as a facilitating condition of academic success, as an indicator of adaptation and also as an educational purpose. Besides, the well-being appears often associated with mental and physical health.

Quantitative study with a sample of 201 nursing students from Health School of Portugal, belonging to 1st and 3rd year of Nursing degree. Data collection through a questionnaire with questions to explore the sociodemographic variables and Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS); Scale of the PANAS well-being; Chronic fatigue scale (Barton et al, 1992); Scale of mental health screening - (ER 80) ( Pio Abreu & Vaz Pato, 1981) and Scale Management Academic Time (Melim & Veiga, 2007).

We verified that the well-being of nursing students is statistically affected by year of degree, by workload, by the feelings toward school, by failures and finally by chronic fatigue.
We conclude that nursing students who have a good academic time management are those with a better well-being.
