<article-title>Effect of Health Promoting Behaviors Model for School-Aged Boys in Shelter</article-title>

<title>ABSTRACT</title>
<p>The purpose of this study was to generate and to promote healthy behaviour for school  age boys who are residing in Shelter. The health behaviour promotion program, questionnaires and individual personal hygiene check up records were applied to study 40 school aged boys in Shelter in Prathum Thani Province who were a representative sample. Data was collected by interviewing, non-participant observation and questionnaire answering. Qualitative data collected and analysed by statistical analysis method. <br />Findings revealed as follows.<br />1) There was an average age of 10.5  years of school boys that were residing in a Shelter for an average of 4 years, teacher is the first priority person that they would consider for health advice  was 62.5 percent,  In term of children health status perception the study showed only 40 percent of school age boys perceived themselves as healthy. <br />2) After attending the health behaviour promotion program, the study showed both overall score of health behaviour and the score of health behaviour before the program was applied in school age children as average. After the program was applied, there was high score of health behaviour.<br />3) The study found the difference comparison of overall health behaviour mean score that had statistically significant difference between health behaviour before participating the health behaviour promotion program training  and following up period at significance level .001 and  the categorized score differences revealed that health behaviour of body hygiene, mouth care hygiene, injury prevention and infection contagiousness were statistically significant differed at significant level .001, .001, .007 and .001 in sequence.<br />The finding showed that health behaviour promotion program could promote the healthy behaviour of children, to practice their individual personal hygiene care more appropriately. Therefore, this program model should be further applied to the school age boys in other Shelter.  </p>
